How to Choose an RO Pump?

RO pump, as the name suggests, is a booster pump used in reverse osmosis equipment. It has the functions of self-priming and boosting, and is one of the key important components of RO water purifiers.

The reverse osmosis water pump provides the required water pressure and flow rate for the RO membrane, another important component inside the RO water purifier, to achieve the purpose of producing pure water.

Classification of RO pump

According to the water production specifications of the RO membrane, there are two categories.

One is the pump corresponding to "standard specifications of RO membrane", with 50 gallons, 75 gallons and 100 gallons, also known as household RO pump.

The other is the pump corresponding to "non-standard commercial large flow RO membrane", with 150 gallons, 200 gallons, 300 gallons, 400 gallons and so on, also known as commercial RO pump.

According to the environment of use, it can be divided into ordinary RO pumps used in municipal water pressure areas, and 0 pressure RO pumps used in areas with no water pressure or low water pressure, also known as 0 pressure pumps (also known as self-priming pumps).

According to the functions, there are mainly ordinary RO pumps on the market; RO voltage stabilizing pumps with stable water out pressure; and RO water cut-off pumps with automatic water cut-off and the function to replace the inlet electromagnetic valve in the RO water purification system.

Selection of RO pump

Firstly, when selecting a water pump, the principle of "matching the pump type with the corresponding specification" must be followed. That is to say, the 50-gallon pump must be used with the 50-gallon RO membrane, and cannot be used in water purifiers with different gallon numbers.

It is forbidden to use a water pump with a large gallon number flow rate in a water purifier with a small gallon number. This will increase the water production load of the RO membrane, reduce the desalination rate of the RO membrane, and may result in non-compliant water quality (while the water production will increase), and even cause deformation and tearing of the RO membrane.

A qualified RO pump must first ensure that all materials cannot be inferior or cut corners, and its performance must meet the working environment requirements of the corresponding RO membrane.
